The European Union phased out fluorescent tubes due to environmental and health concerns. Here are some reasons:

1, Energy inefficiency: Fluorescent tubes are less energy-efficient than newer technologies like LED. LEDs use less power to produce the same amount of light as fluorescent tubes, which can lead to significant energy savings.
2, Environmental impact: Fluorescent tubes contain small amounts of mercury, a toxic metal that can leach into the environment when they're disposed of improperly. Phasing out these bulbs helps reduce mercury pollution.
3, Health issues: Exposure to mercury can cause serious health problems. Broken fluorescent tubes can release mercury vapor, which is harmful if inhaled.
4, Improved alternatives: LED lights not only consume less energy but also last longer than fluorescent tubes. They turn on immediately, work in cold temperatures, and are easily dimmable.
5, Cost over lifetime: While LED lights might be more expensive to buy initially, they cost less over their lifetime because they last longer and use less electricity than fluorescent tubes.

Most of fluorescent tubes have a 70-90 lm/w light efficiency, however, traditional fluorescent tubes are 360 degees beam angle, which means some part of light are lost due to the reflection and fitting LOR (Luminaire Lumen Output Ratio), so the system efficiency is even lower. To the contrary, Cyanlite Fito has upto 160 lm/w efficiency, which means there are huge energy saving from the retrofit replacement.

FITO's primary differential factor from other LED tubes is its advanced dimmability function. This innovative system integrates an external driver, modulated for DALI and 1-10v dimming. Unlike typical LED tubes that deliver a constant light intensity, FITO enables light output adjustments, offering more application-specific lighting solutions.

The installation of regular LED tubes demands the reconfiguration of existing fixtures. However, FITO eliminates the necessity for wiring adjustments, providing an efficient solution for both inductive and electronic ballasts. This feature significantly reduces installation complexities and time, thus increasing productivity and ease of execution. With FITO solutions, No more headaches about CCG, ECG, EVG, LLB, KVG etc., all kinds of different ballast compatibility, no need to bypass the starter, or remove the ballast or modify the wiring of existing fluorescent fitting.

Make it so easy to retrofit the traditional fluorescent fittings with 2 x T5/T8 tubes in lourver luminaires. Just take out the fluorescent tubes, keep all the exisiting ballast and starter as it is, install the Fito with its magetic clips or screws, connect the AC to the driver plate terminal box, job done!

There are 3 main installation situations and Cyanlite has fully solutions for all kinds of installation scenarios for your project:

(1) The existing fitting bottom is flat, and tubes can be installed directly on the bottom by Magnets or by Screws.

(2) The existing fitting bottom is flat but with obstacles, the tubes cannot be installed directly and need a height adjustable bracket.

(3) The existing fitting has reflectors on the bottom, the tubes cannot be installed directly and need a G13 lamp holder adaptor.
